I finally got the Sonicwall NetExtender on my Windows 8 computer to work correctly. I took a couple calls to support to resolve. My problem is that initially, you need to login through a browser to access the site.

If I use Chrome, I am able to run the NetExtender app through the browser, but if I use Internet Explorer version 11, the link is not even clickable. I checked my ActiveX settings are all are set correctly (enable or prompt ). I can also download the local client and run the install, but the idea is NOT to have clients run the local install but to use the browser instead. Any one else run across this issue? I have been running into random issues with IE 11 as well with different web apps we use. The Netextender is one of them. Another we are seeing is with a mail server called SmarterMail.

Connecting to a Sonicwall SSL VPN using Windows Without Needing the Sonicwall NetExtender Client. Here's an easy way to connect to a Sonicwall SSL VPN using Windows 10 (also works in 8.1) without needing the Sonicwall NetExtender client (which won't install completely on Windows 10). The example below is. When reinstalling your computer with Windows 8, you might run into issues with VPN clients. Make sure that you have version 6.0.181 of the SonicWALL NetExtender software and install that on your Windows 8 machine. You can easily download the VPN client from the SonicWALL support site.

We ran into an issue where people using IE11 were sending mail out and they were all blank. Thankfully though the folks at SmarterMail picked up quickly on that issue and coded a fix for it and pushed out an update. Loaded that up and they were good.

They didn't have this issue with any other browser. The same went with the Netextender client.

If folks used FF or Chrome, they were good to go. We have just been having people use FF or Chrome for Netextender until there is a fix for IE11 found. However, we have some folks that have Win8.1 and they are able to connect, but their workstation is not able to pickup the routes from the SSL/VPN. That is how I found this thread.

Trying to find out why this is happening. Doesn't happen with folks still on Win8. Acpi Cpl0002 Driver Windows 7 Dell here. Hoping to find a fix for that soon as people are finally doing that upgrade and I know we are going to be seeing that issue a lot more in the weeks to come. I have the same requirement as the OP (for a non-installed VPN client - surely the main point of SSLVPN) and I am experiencing the same (no response to clicking) problem on IE11. Chrome works okay, although I had to install the Chrome extension via the Chrome store - it wouldn't le me install it via my SonicWALL Virtual Offce page. I've tried temporarily pruning my IE11 security settings to no avail. I'm doing some SonicWALL training in a couple of weeks, so I'll see what I can find out then.

As an aside, I wish we could just standardise on a single standards-obeying browser. It's impossible to get by these days with a single browser, and IE11 crashes/hangs at alarming frequency. I apologize for the lengthy time away (only over a year!) from this particular thread.

Taking all your advice, I was able to get it working by simply downloading the client to a locally shared drive and running the install from that. Have not had a problem since with any of my clients. If there is a remote client that I don't have access to, I rename the executable as text file and send it to him/her. They save it back to an executable on their end, run it, enter the credentials I provided 'verbally' and again, no issues. I really have to start monitoring my threads.
